If you have an inquiry or complaint about censorship, or the classification of a particular publication, please contact the Information Unit or free phone us on 0508 CENSOR (0508 236767). We will advise you of your options and, if necessary, refer you to the appropriate authority for action.
If you are concerned that someone could be breaking the law, the first step is to contact the Censorship Compliance Unit of the Department of Internal Affairs on 0800 257 887. They are responsible for enforcing the Act.
If you would like to comment on, or suggest an amendment to the Classification Act, you should contact your local Member of Parliament or the Minister of Justice. The Ministry of Justice administers the Act and is responsible for any changes to the legislation.
